Dear Myrinet users,

We are happy to announce the release of MPICH-GM 1.2.5..10.

    http://www.myri.com/scs/

The new features of this MPICH-GM implementation include:

  * Added support for thread-safe malloc (for threaded libraries).
  * Added support for Intel 7.1 compilers.
  * Added support for GM-2.

A detailed list of changes in this release can be found in the
mpich-1.2.5..10/mpid/ch_gm/CHANGES file.

Options still available:
 * The Eager/Rendez-vous thresholds can be changed at run-time. The
     default is 16KB.
 * The user can change the behavior of the blocking MPI calls
by specifying the "--recv-mode" flag to mpirun.ch_gm at run-time.
    (Type "mpirun.ch_gm --gm-h" for details.)

MPICH-GM has been tested on Linux (Gnu compilers, PGI compilers, Absoft
Fortran compiler, Lahey Fortran compiler, and Intel 6.0.1 and 7.1
compilers), Solaris, FreeBSD, and Mac OS X. No testing has been
performed on Tru64, AIX, or IRIX.

This release of MPICH-GM is not yet supported for Windows. The next
release will support Windows NT, Windows 2000, or Windows XP, and
include the Windows support (spawning, etc) from the generic MPICH
code. Until then, customers are advised to continue using MPICH-GM
1.2.1..7b.

Full documentation on MPD support for large configurations with ch_gm
will be available soon on the Myricom webpage. However, users with
experience with MPICH ch_p4mpd will find the MPD support in ch_gm
completely identical (using mpirun.mpd instead of mpirun).

If you have any questions about this release, or other Myrinet technical
questions, please don't hesitate to contact us at [email protected].
