Dear Myrinet users,
We are pleased to announce the release of MPICH-GM 1.2.5..11.
http://www.myri.com/scs/
The new features and important bug fixes for this release of MPICH-GM
include:
* Shared lib now also works on non-ia32 archs
* In order to avoid some compiler bugs, we now always require gcc to
compile the glibc malloc in mpich-gm (ptmalloc2), even if the rest is
compiled with another compiler.
* Can be compiled in a separate "build" directory
* No longer require linking with pthread on Linux
* Add a configure option (-with-shmemdir) to specify the path to the file
mmaped in user-space to provide the shared memory device.
Useful for diskless system where /tmp is not on a local disk but NFS
mounted (Contributed by Glen Beane at University of Maine).
* Work around a bug in GM about send error recovery, affecting configurations
with at least 2 processes per NIC. Under some circumstances, the application
would just hang when a message would timeout.
* Work around the change of semantics in GM-2 about node ids, without using
any new GM-2 functions. The MPICH-GM binaries are now compatible with GM-1
and GM-2, depending upon with which shared library they are dynamically linked.
* MPICH version 1.2.5.2.
A detailed list of changes in this release can be found in the
mpich-1.2.5..11/mpid/ch_gm/CHANGES file.
MPICH-GM has been tested on Linux (Gnu compilers, PGI 5 compilers, and
Intel 8.0 compilers), Solaris, FreeBSD, and Mac OS X. No testing has been
performed on Tru64 or AIX.
This release of MPICH-GM is not yet supported for Windows.
