first time user questions

Hi:

	I'm bringing up a new small Linux cluster with a Myrinet switch. 
	Some basic questions:

	1) I've placed a 'K00gm' link in /etc/init.d/rc0.d and 
/etc/init.d/rd6.d. These don't work - when I send computers to init level 
0 or init level 6, the kill script isn't activated and I can still see 
activity on the switch. Has anyone ever seen this behavior before? Any 
ideas?

	2) If the PCIXD card is still active but the rest of the system is
down, can the computer be turned off without damaging the PCIXD card?
