Initial Comment:
I've been trying to use the check_rrd_data.pl from the contrib dir. Since there's no upstream to report bugs/patches, this is the only place remaining. The plugin is in a bad state, require libs from cricket to work and hasn't been updated in 11 years.
In my opinion it should be either removed or replaced for something more updated such as check_rrd (http://exchange.nagios.org/directory/Plugins/Databases/RRD/check_rrd-2Epl/details)

I'll be glad to do the push request if you like so...
