net-snmp api call to retrieve a variable from the netsnmp_pdu struct

Is there a net-snmp api I can use to retrieve a variable from the netsnmp_pdu struct?

In most net-snmp sources the api call print_varaiable() is used.

I now use the api call sprint_realloc_by_type() but this returns also the type (like INTEGER: STRING: etc).
