Trap engine ID eth0

Hello all,

I have a question linked to snmp traps in V3 version.

In V2C, my code is working and in V3 the same code is also working except that I need to define an engine ID on both sides (Tx and Rx). I use snmp V3 protocol for authentication purpose only.

So, I’m wondering if it’s possible to send a SNMP V3 Trap by using the EngineID linked to eth0 for example.
The main question which hidden is: How the receiver knows this engine ID ? Or Do we have to use a hard coded value ? Is there a key exchange mechanism ?

For snmpset or snmpget, this behavior is described in the snmpd.conf file.

By advance thanks for your help.
