bones!

im having extrange problems with a redhat box.

i query a router with a simple

snmpget -v 1 -c public 10.29.6.1 sysDescr.0

and i get

Timeout: No Response from 10.29.6.1.

but if i perform same call from my debian's laptop i get de correct string:

SNMPv2-MIB::sysDescr.0 = STRING: Router model C2i 1 12 CPU MPC860      S/N: 104/21587  Teldat               (c)1996 - 2004

i've tried with redhat's bundled version

# snmpget -V
NET-SNMP version: 5.1.2

AND with a freshly compiled 5.2.1.2:

# /usr/local/netsnmp-5212/bin/snmpget -V
NET-SNMP version: 5.2.1.2

but no succes.

are packages so diferent from one dist to another? im i missing something? any other having problems with redhat?

here's some info about my system:

# cat /etc/redhat-release
Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 4 (Nahant)

# uname -a
Linux XXXXXXXXXX 2.6.9-5.EL #1 Wed Jan 5 19:22:18 EST 2005 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
