Getting information out of a cache

Hi all,
This is probably a stupid question, but I can't seem to find an
answer to it.
I have a function that is being called. It's being passed a pointer
to netsnmp_cache, and an integer that is an index that may more may not
be in that cache. I need to return weather or not a row with that index
actually exists. What would be the best way of doing that?
