In particular, if the agent doesn't receive any requests for this table for a day or two, is it necessary to keep regenerating the list all the time? If not, then I suggest you look at using the cache helper to generate this list "on demand". If this is not possible (either because generating the list takes too long, or because the data *is* needed for other purposes in the meantime), then you can use 'snmp_alarm_register' to specify a routine to run - either as a one-off, or regularly (until it's explicitly cancelled).
