I'm sorry I can't figure out how to apply this thing. I am using GNU patch,
but I get his and nothing seems to have changed:

S00c120# cp configure.in configure.in.tdr
s00c120# patch -i configpatch
patching file configure.in
patch: **** unexpected end of file in patch
s00c120# diff configure.in configure.in.tdr
S00c120#

By the way, I reran configure just for the fun of it and noticed this for
the first time:

configure: WARNING: sys/socketvar.h: present but cannot be compiled
configure: WARNING: sys/socketvar.h: check for missing prerequisite
headers?
configure: WARNING: sys/socketvar.h: see the Autoconf documentation
configure: WARNING: sys/socketvar.h: section "Present But Cannot Be
Compiled"
configure: WARNING: sys/socketvar.h: proceeding with the preprocessor's
result
configure: WARNING: sys/socketvar.h: in the future, the compiler will take
precedence

First, thanks for testing it!

This patch, and running autoconf, will fix that problem..
