Encrytion support not enabled

hi,

i installed the net-snmp agent on my linux pc. i can send and get requests in v2c and v3.
i can use the authentification in v3 without any problems.
but when i try the encryption i get the error message:

"Encryption support not enabled"

the user is set up with both authen. and encryption.
does anyone know how or where i can enable the encryption?
