Hi:

Thanks for last time's answer on the config/version question, you were
right, there is no source compiled version installed in the Redhat(I was
informed so though), the running net-snmp is the one that comes with Redhat
release 8.0,kernel 2.4.28-14 on an i686.

Currentlly, I hava two questions:

1.Attempting to build the net-snmp from source download 5.2.1.2 like
following after remove the old installation:

rpm -e net-snmp
[showing uninstalled,fine]

rpmbuild -ba ./net-snmp.spec or rpmbuild -ta ./net-snmp-5.2.1.2-1.tar

the result is the same, last several lines are:

/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lelf
Collec2: ld returned 1 exit status
Make[1]:***[snmpd] Error 1
Make[] :Leaving directory '/usr/src/redhat/BUILD/net-snmp.5.2.1.2/agent'
Error:Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.55575(%build)

RPM build errors:
Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.55575(%build)

Can you see why?

2.As I type in "man 8 snmpd.conf" under above Redhat linux
to find where to look for result if a configured process(in snmpd.conf)
stops/starts running, I understand it is stored into EXTENSIBLEDOTMIB
section of the MIB tree, is this a file that I actually can see it in the
machine or it is a subtree that is UCD specific? Can you inform the location
to retrieve the result?

Thanks in advance,

shemy
