Hi,

I'm trying to query the SCSI raid controller (CCITT)
in a HP Proliant server (D360 or something), running
linux (Debian "Sage").
It runs HP's own software hpasmd (hpasmcli) for some
monitoring of fans, temperatures, cpu, memory etc.

There's also the cpqarrayd daemon which monitors the
raid device and sends snmp trap messages to the net
snmpd daemon.

All that works, however, rather than receiving traps
sent to snmpd that ends up as an error description in
a log file, I wish to poll some of the status info of
the raid controller (like cpqarrayd does) myself at
any moment.

I've been unable to query any bit of information.

I've read the "how do I add MIB files".

And installed the mib files here:
http://www.assure24.com/databases/snmp-mib/private/Compaq/
(1.3.6.1.4.1.232. ...)

But I have been unable to query anything but the
defauult SNMP-SIM::sys* values.

Can someone tell me if net-snmp(d) (snmpget, snmpwalk)
can query the ho/compaq hardware raid + scsi devices?

If so, can someone give me step-by-step instructions
on how to make this possible on a 'default' install
(edit snmp.conf, and snmpget command, using default
values like "public" community etc.)

If not, can anyone tell me what I need to do to get it
to work (like install a different agent or whatever?)

Please reply or CC to my personal e-mail address,
reageer at oohay (in reverse) dot com.

Pearlson
