Those are always more likely to have problems than a full release is - that's precisely why we make them available! Or perhaps even start by using a pre-compiled version (either from our website, or a RedHat-provided package). That would at least allow you to experiment with *using* SNMP, before you start to think about compiling it. I'm a great believer in tackling things one step at a time.
