problems with setting

hi,
i can read all the objects from my MIB, but when i try to set some values i
always get an error message. the only values i can set, are some system
parameters like sysName or sysLocation.
when i try set up an interface like
      snmpset localhost .1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.7.3 i 2 (set the eth1 down)
i always get the same mesasge:
    Error in packet.
    Reason: notWritable (That object does not support modification)
    Failed object: IF-MIB::ifAdminStatus.3
i am using SNMPv3 and all the authentification parameters are alrigth,
because i can read all that value and i can write the system parameters.
i also checked the MIBs, the value is writeable.

does anybody knows why i can�t write any value?
