That sounds suspiciously as if the HOST-RESOURCES-MIB file
isn't installed on your system.
Have a look in the various MIB directories - is there a
file "HOST-RESOURCES-MIB.txt" anywhere?
It might also be worth running the command as
snmpget -Dparse-mibs -v 1 -c public localhost hrSystemDate
which should reveal exactly where it's looking.
(Just in case the HostRes MIB file is in the "wrong" place).
