Is anything logged by 'snmpd' when it receives an
"unacceptable" request?


Other things to try:

    snmpd:   192.168.1.0

or
    snmpd:   192.168.1.0/24

(Obviously, this assumes that you *are* coming in
from an IPv4 system in this particular subnet!)
