:-( No it still doesn't seem to work. I've restarted snmpd with -Ddisman -d 
-Le -p /var/run/snmpd.pid again, and the following entries seem to be 
relevant (I've just copied the linkUp ones - the linkDown is the same):

When I look in the mteEventTable, I still everything listed with "_snmpd"

I'm sure I've applied the patch properly. To be absolutely sure, I did a make 
uninstall, make clean, applied the patch and configure, make, make install.
