Hi,
I think you need to modify : net-snmp-config --create-snmpv3-user -a "my_password" myuser
Try this command: net-snmp-config --create-snmpv3-user -a my_password myuser
NO quotes required for pass_phrase.
Thanks,
Mahesh

Subject: Problem in v2 and v3 support....
Hi All,
I am using net-snmp-5.0.7--> successfully compiled and running fine.
I compiled it for v3 support with openssl.
It worked for v2 testing.. as shown below :
snmpget -c broadcom -v 2c 192.168.31.14 system.sysUpTime.0
DISMAN-EVENT-MIB::sysUpTimeInstance = Timeticks: (17647) 0:02:56.47
I have few problems. when I try to test for v3, my command goes as
below :
snmpget -v 3 -u myuser -l authNoPriv -a MD5 -A my_password
192.168.31.14 sysUpTime.0
snmpget: Authentication failure (incorrect password, community or key)
(Sub-id not found: iso -> sysUpTime)
I tried mentioning community name also.
snmpget -c broadcom -v 3 -u myuser -l authNoPriv -a MD5 -A my_password
192.168.31.14 sysUpTime.0
snmpget: Authentication failure (incorrect password, community or key)
(Sub-id not found: iso -> sysUpTime)
I couldn't make it why it is happening so? I used following command to
create a user :
net-snmp-config --create-snmpv3-user -a "my_password" myuser
My /usr/local/share/snmp/snmpd.conf file looks like as shown below.
-------------snmpd.conf----------begins--------------
# sec.name source community
com2sec readable default broadcom
com2sec writable default broadcom

# Finally, grant the group read-only access to the systemview view.

trap2sink 192.168.31.121
rwuser myuser
-------------snmpd.conf----------ends--------------
Please help me out for the same.
please dont ask me to use other versions of net-snmp, as I am facing
lots of problem while compiling for my board.
Thanx in Advance....
