shared lib build

Hello Guys,
I have been testing the net-snmp code build for my uclinux target, the
snmpd was build using the option "--enable-shared=no", Everything
works fine.  But when i removed this option to make use of sharedlib
(so).  I get the following error....

cp: cannot stat `build/snmplib/.libs/libnetsnmp.so.5.2.1': No such
file or directory

make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/sridhar/uClinux-dist-test/user/net-snmp'
make[1]: *** [romfs] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/sridhar/uClinux-dist-test/user'
make: *** [romfs] Error 1
--ERROR END---

I checked the .lib directory,  here is the ls dump
% ls
libnetsnmp.a  libnetsnmp.la  libnetsnmp.lai

How should i forece the Makefile int he build directory to generate
the shared-lib.
