Fair enough. The original message didn't mention anything about your snmpd.conf settings, and the most common problem with both of those tables is assuming that they're populated by default. It wasn't clear to me that you were using a previously-working config file - hence pointing you to the most likely cause of the problem. Not relevant in this case, but it might well have been.
