The main thing to beware of is that traps are "unreliable" - it's quite possible for traps to be lost by the network, and the agent won't know to resend them. So failing to receive an expected trap doesn't necessarily mean that the agent is in trouble. But if such an approach meets your needs, then go right ahead.
