Yes - you're quite correct.  I'd forgotten about that.

I've now tried this setup for myself, and it works as expected.
Starting the snmptrapd using   --authcommunity="log trappists", and
sending a trap using -c public, the trapd displays the raw incoming
PDU, and nothing else.  Sending a trap using -c trappists, the trapd
displays the raw incoming PDU and then logs the trap.
   So the basic operation seems sound.

Yup - that looks correct.  (As does the rest of the trap PDU, I think).

Hmmm...
It looks like something's going wrong with the trap receiver's access
control handling.
Try running it using   -Dsnmptrapd:auth.vacm_parse_authcommunity  and
send traps as before.  What does this report?
