Hi Thomas,
Congratulations! I'm not sure too...
A couple of details: the latests version is hpasm-7.5.1-8.rhel3.i386.rpm.
[root@tornido root]# snmpd -H
cmaX: sent ColdStarts on ports 25376 to 25393
cmaX: listening for subagents on port 25375
Configuration directives understood:
In snmpd.conf and snmpd.local.conf:
authtrapenable 1 | 2 (1 = enable, 2 = disable)
trapsink host [community] [port]
trap2sink host [community] [port]
informsink host [community] [port]
trapsess [snmpcmdargs] host
trapcommunity community-string
agentuser userid
agentgroup groupid
agentaddress SNMP bind address
dlmod module-name module-path
syslocation location ..............
When I executed #hpasm activate
NOTE: It has been determined that your existing SNMP software stack will not
work correctly with many of the management agents in this package. In order
to successfully integrate those agents, one of the following prerequisites
must be satisfied:
* Install an SNMP stack with the hp ProLiant Managment Extension built
in. RPMS are available from
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/19125.html
(ucd-snmp-4.2.5-79.rhel3.i386)
-- OR --
* Install an SNMP stack with the standard dlmod Extension built in.
This can be accomplished by building the SNMP stack from the source
with the --with-dlmod option in the configuration step. Source is
available from http://www.net-snmp.org/
Press any key to continue...
Most Management Agents will not work properly under this condition.
The affected agents will be excluded from starting up. Once you have
satisfied the prerequisite, you can run "/etc/init.d/hpasm reconfigure"
to bring those agents online
Please answer 'y' to this prompt to confirm that you read above notice .....

I modified snmpd.conf to work with the net-snmp tar installation, but
mrtg hang up after a regular time and server swaps.
Do you suggest uninstall ucd-snmp stack though it is deactivated?
