How to send notifications from applications

 

Hello community. I’m Jose Jurado, from Spain.

 

I have to program a C library to let several applications notify their error
codes and warnings to a central SNM.

I want some features to be performed:

- The library must be multi-platform. (just Linux and Windows)

- The notifications must be done in asynchronous mode. (to the applications
side)

- The configuration of the agent (snmpd.conf) must be used. (this point
exclude the command-line snmptrap)

 

I think this could be done by extending the agent with a module listening in
a socket. When a connection is received, this module will send a
notification using send_v2trap.

By doing so, the library would be a client of the agent.

 

But it seems a hard way to do a simple task.

Can anyone tell me an easier way to do that??
