The routine netsnmp_register_watched_scalar() will handle MIB objects
of *any* type
(including string and OID values), not just integer-based objects.

It also handles invalid instances correctly - unlike the register_int family.

This is perhaps not quite as simple as the integer-instance routines,
but still provides a simple way to monitor scalar objects.

See _register_extend() in the file agent/mibgroup/agent/extend.c for
an example of how this routine can be used.
