Thomas, I tried the config file first but upon finding that it had no effect, I did a search on the net-snmp mailing list and found someone with the same problem and you suggested (although very speculatively) trying the patch + rebuild. The date of the email was "2006-08-30 11:02". I have tried putting the "clientaddr" config setting in "/etc/snmp/snmp.conf" and "/etc/snmp/snmpd.conf" with the prefix of "[snmp]" (as per someone elses recommendation) but the end result is the same. If there is anything else that you could suggest then I would be more than happy to try it (this is holding up an internal project).
