Hi,
    How are SNMP Traps different from regular SNMP modules ? What are
the advantages of SNMP modules and Traps ?

Traps are unsolicited messages sent by the snmp extension agent to
notify the master agent of critical changes that might have occurred in
the system. For example traps are sent if a Physical drive is removed
from the system or is inserted therein.
It may be noted that while all other snmp messages are sent by the
extension agent only on request by the master agent, traps are sent
without the master agent's requests and hence are unsolicited but
absolutely critical to the working of the system. The master agent may
or may not acknowledge the receipt of the traps depending on the
protocol version used.

SNMP modules are basically agent(s) that monitor the various devices
connected to the system. These may be device specific or generic. These
modules collect information related to the device(s) they serve and
return these collected data in response to GET or GETNEXT requests from
the master agent. These may also possess the capacity to set writable
values pertaining to the device in response to a SET request from the
SNMP master agent.
