What do you mean by "suppressing traps"? Are you talking about traps generated by the agent, or something different? If the snmpd.conf file contains "trapsink" directives (or similar), then it will send traps to the specified destinations. If it doesn't contain any such lines, then the agent won't generate any traps. If that's not what you meant, then you probably need to explain a bit more.
