I rolled the 5.4 opti@ supplied this morning.  We'll see how it does.  The 
only thing that I had to do with the tarball was regen pkg/{PLIST,PFRAG}*.

# sudo /usr/local/sbin/snmpd -f -Ls 1  10.0.0.3:161
Dec 18 09:22:17 br0 snmpd[11804]: NET-SNMP version 5.4

Also, we have to talk about PF-MIB in a _big_ way.
