If you compiled this software from the source, then by default it
will be installed under /usr/local, so would typically look for
/usr/local/share/snmp/snmptrapd.conf (and similar).
/etc/snmp tends to be used by vendor-supplied distributions.

Ignore the services file - that's irrelevant.
By default, the trap daemon will be listening for *UDP* messages
on port 162. It won't open the TCP port unless you explicitly
tell it to.
