RE: FW: agentx sub-agent setup

I chose an entry within the ifTable (ifPhysAddress) and ran the test,
results are below.  In both instances I am getting a response...  

 

NMS: 176.27.81.18

Master Agent: 176.27.81.145

Sub Agent: 176.27.81.33

 

Stop Sub-Agent:

snmpwalk -v 2c -c 'community string' 176.27.81.145 ifPhysAddress.1
(issued command from NMS host)

*         IF-MIB::ifPhysAddress.1 = STRING: 0:6:5b:3b:1c:4a

 

Start Sub-Agent

snmpwalk -v 2c -c 'community string' 176.27.81.145 ifPhysAddress.1
(issued command from NMS host)

*         IF-MIB::ifPhysAddress.1 = STRING: 0:6:5b:3b:1c:4a

Shut down the subagent, but leave the master agent still running.

Then request an entry from within the ifTable.

 

If you get a response, then it's the master agent (or a different
subagent)

that's handling it.  If you get 'noSuchObject' or equivalent, then it's
the

subagent.

 

That's the way I usually test AgentX activity.
