Hi,
I am using silvercreek test suite to test the agent we took from ucd-snmp-4.2.3.
I am running snmpV2 specific test cases.
The testcase 2.1.2.1 pertains to a walk on all available mibs on the switch.
The other testcase 2.2.4.2 issues a get-bulk on one of the mib oid mentioned below.
Please go through the log of the test-faillure for more info.
This test fails repeatedly. I reran test 2.1.2.1 immediately before running
this test on two different occasions and still get the error. All other tests
passed.
All I wanted to know is if this is a bug in snmpd code or need to look into
Some other section. If somebody faced similar problem earlier, please let me
Know How they have resolved it.
2.2.4.2 The purpose of this test is to verify that the agent can perform
lexicographic ordering with large Instance-ID's on each variable returned in
test 2.1.2.1. Implementations using less than 32 bit unsigned arithmetic will
fail this test.
This test replaces one identifier in the Instance-ID each iteration with 2^32
or 4,294,967,295 and issues a GET-BULK from the resulting OID.
The expected outcome is for the agent to return the first variable greater than
the argument.
Reference RFC 3416 § 4.2.3
[FAILED] Remarks: get-bulk operation failed or had errors
Lexicographic error detected in response to get-bulk request sent.
Lexicographic error, VarBind index 0
The response OID
1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.102.1.1.1.3.6.1.2.1.1
is lexicographically less than or equals to
The request OID
1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.102.1.4294967295.0
The consequences of your agent behaving in this way is that
the data returned is indeterminate and will likely confuse management
applications. You could get duplicates. You are not operating
efficiently. You may miss rows in the retrieval. The management
application could become so confused that it terminates before
retrieving all the objects. The rule is that the respose OID must be
lexicographically greater than the request OID.
