Both servers in my master/sub-agent setup have the same base OS
installation, which includes the same set of MIBS in
/usr/share/snmp/mibs.  Is this what you are referring to?  If so, how do
I stop the master from registering its mibs?

What MIB modules does the master agent implement internally?
What MIB modules does the subagent implement?

If the master agent already implements a module that the subagent
is trying to register, then this registration will indeed fail.
