I'm not sure whether you're using the "normal" Net-SNMP agent running as a subagent, or the simpler subagent-specific framework. The main Net-SNMP agent takes the flag '-d' to turn on packet dumps. The subagent framework doesn't recognise this, so you'd need to add the statement: netsnmp_ds_set_boolean(NETSNMP_DS_LIBRARY_ID, NETSNMP_DS_LIB_DUMP_PACKET, 1); and recompile. Let the subagent run through the registration and settle down. Then issue a single GET request for the offending OID, and let me have a copy of the AgentX packet dumps.
