Dave,

I have posted this on net-snmp-users list. But no-reply from the forum.

Hence taking the liberty to mail you.

I am trying with manually editing the /var/net-snmp/snmpd.conf.
And adding the following lines for creating snmp v3 users.

createUser snmpv3user MD5 password DES password
createUser anotheruser MD5 password DES

After saving this file, I am sending a SIGHUP signal, using the command

kill -1 <pid of snmpd>

What I am expecting is the user information should have got scrambled there.

But it is not happening.

And when I restart the snmpd, then I see the userinfo got scrambled.

the snmpd.conf man page says when we send a SIGHUP signal,
The above mentioned behaviour will be seen.

But in my case, I am not seeing that. Am I missing something out there ?

Thanks & Regards,
