Net-SNMP 5.4 comes with an initial attempt to address some of these issues. If you look at net-snmp-config.h you'll see that e.g. "#define NETSNMP_NO_AUTOCONF_DEFINITIONS" will cause the autoconf definitions to get omitted. But there's a significant risk involved. Since our code makes use of those definitions all over the place, you really want to make sure *your* code contains the relevant #defines somewhere else.
