I would suggest you work with 5.4

The DisMan Event MIB support was completely re-written for the 5.3
release, and is significantly more complete, consistent, robust and
generally all-round better than the initial implementation.

I haven't checked the original code, but I have a vague recollection
that it didn't handle a wildcarded objects very well.   You would be
much better off working with the newer code.  (5.0.9 is some 3 1/2
years old, and is not even the most recent release on the 5.0.x line.
