libperl.a: could not read symbols:Bad value

Hi,

My linux machine

[Linux ggns1bfx01.hsc.com 2.6.9-22.EL #1 Mon Sep 19 17:49:49 EDT 2005 
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux] 

has installed version of net-snmp 5.1.4 . Now i am installing the 
Net-SNMP-5.4 from source code. When i give command
make 

it gives following error.

Could you please tell me the resolution of this problem. If it is due to 
installed perl module,  how can i uninstall the old perl module?
