Try this: snmptrap -v 1 -m ALL -c public localhost .1.3.6.1.6.3 localhost 6 1 20071105 Actually the syntax is snmptrap -v 1 -c <community> manager_address OID agent_address <reasion for sending trap> <trap-type> <Time stamp> snmptrap -v 2c -c <community> manager_address <Time stamp> Trap OID First run your snmptrapd in a shell then from other shell try to send snmptrap...
