Can i make a new MIB file? Yes - that's the best approach. Has your organisation got (or applied for) an enterprise number? That will give you a section of the OID tree that you can organise however you wish. (I suggest that you do *not* use "{enterprises 2}" as Aileen suggests. Something tells me that in a fight with IBM, you'd lose!) > What is the format of a new MIB file? If you are going to be defining your own MIB file, then you really need to get hold of a good book on SNMP and MIB structure. The generally accepted choice is probably "Understanding SNMP MIBs", by David Perkins and Evan McGinnis. I would not recommend trying to design MIBs from the official RFC specs, unless you are fairly experienced in SNMP already. Note that there's more to MIB design than simply the syntax of the file. Equally as important is the design and structuring of the data that this MIB file represents. That's very much down to the characteristics of the underlying system that you're wanting to monitor/control, and is something that the RFCs can't even try to address.
