Maybe you need an upgrade? My Solaris 8 task.h has the same ident string. The others are different but the failures seem to be the same. I tested a few more versions of gcc and came up with some more results: It succeeds with gcc-2.95.3 on 8, 9, 10 It succeeds with gcc-3.4.2 on 8 (thanks Martin) It succeeds with gcc-3.4.3 on 10 (thanks Thomas) It succeeds with gcc-3.4.6 on 8, 9, 10 It succeeds with gcc-4.0.4 on 10 (thanks Thomas) It fails with gcc-3.2.0 on 8, 9, 10 It fails with gcc-3.2.2 on 8, 9, 10 It fails with gcc-3.3.2 on 8, 9, 10 I find it funny that almost nothing came up on google when I searched for the failure string--- here's hoping this gets spidered, I'm sure I won't be the last one to look for it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML.
