RE: Rebuilding Net-SNMP 5.4 with IPv6

V5-4-Patches built with IPv6 support is now running fine.  Unfortunately
I have no machine configured for actual IPv6 communication but hopefully
will be able to test that soon.  Thanks again.

Ok, it turns out with the working version, 5.4, after using the -d the
packets were being sent on port 161.  That is correct.

With the V5-4-Patches build they were being sent on port 5000.  That is
wrong, thus I issued the following snmpgetnext -r 0 -d -v 2c -c public
10.1.1.1:161 ifOperStatus

And the V5-4-Patches build works as expected not yet including IPv6
support turned on.  Hopefully that is also a port issue.  I will inform
the list soon.

Also, I found the reason they were being sent on port 5000 was that
defaultport was set to 5000 in my snmp.conf file.  Odd though, that it
only affected the V5-4-Patches build.

Thanks for reminding me of the "-d"

In particular, it might be useful to run

    snmpgetnext -r 0 -d -v 2c -c public 10.1.1.1 ifOperStatus

with both the (working) 5.4 and (non-working) V5-4-patches builds, so
that we can compare equivalent packet dumps.
