Hi all,
I have the snmptrapd.conf file configured as follows:
traphandle default /usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_snmp_4300.pl
SNMP is started using the configuration file:
root 16509 1 0 09:23 ? 00:00:00 snmptrapd -c
/etc/snmp/snmptrapd.conf
All the check_snmp_4300.pl script does is write to a file whatever it
received from STDIN. I force an error on the device with the label of
"DS4300-01" and the IP of "333.42.43.3". I then check the file that the
check_snmp_4300.pl file generated, and the output is as follows:
123.45.67.890
123.45.67.890
SNMPv2-MIB::sysUpTime.0 0:0:00:00.00
SNMPv2-MIB::snmpTrapOID.0 SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.1123.4.300.0.1
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.1123.4.300.1.1.1 1.11.111.111
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.1123.4.300.1.1.2 "Out-of-Band "
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.1123.4.300.1.1.3 "DS4300-01 "
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.1123.4.300.1.1.4 "2248 "
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.1123.4.300.1.1.5 "Jul 25, 2007 8:47:15 PM
"
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.1123.4.300.1.1.6 "Drive failed - write failure
"
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.1123.4.300.1.1.7 "Drive
"
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.1123.4.300.1.1.8 "Enclosure 1, Slot 2
"
SNMP-COMMUNITY-MIB::snmpTrapAddress.0 1.11.111.111
SNMP-COMMUNITY-MIB::snmpTrapCommunity.0 "HIDDEN"
So for some reason, it says that the IP that sent the trap is
123.45.67.890, which is incorrect. That is the actual ip of my machine. It
should be the IP of the actual device, 333.42.43.3.
Also, OID SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.1123.4.300.1.1.1, which defines the
"Address of the Network attached device or device host", is listed as
1.11.111.111. That ip is the IP of another network connection I am
operating on.
So what I am really trying to figure out is why isn't the actual IP
that is sent through to my script through STDIN the actual IP of the device
that generated the trap??
Thanks for your help,
Matthew
