RE: IPv6 with SNMPv3

OK rebuilt Net-SNMP from source with the new Version 5.4.1 and still
have the same problem...

I've attached the Gzip'ed Full debug output.  The following command was
issued:

snmpwalk -u hafuser -a SHA -x AES -A password1 -X password1 -l authpriv
-v 3 ipv6:[2000::10:1:1:6] 1.3.6.1.4.1.8698.13

Seems like it hangs when it's probing for Engine ID.  The device will
respond to IPv4 SNMPv3 requests with no problem.  Only difference here
is "10.1.1.6" in place of "ipv6:[2000::10:1:1:6]" in the above snmpwalk
command.  I've reconfigured the device to have the IP 2000::10:1:1:6/48

 Yes, I am only seeing a number of outgoing requests that repeat until
it times out.  The device is by design only able to respond to SNMPv3
requests.  It can be configured to either IPv4 or IPv6 for SNMP
communication, and I do have IPv4 working with SNMPv3.  This led me to
believe it's an issue with the build, or the way I was sending the IPv6
request.  I might wait until 5.4.1 final and build that to do further
testing just in case any bug fixes help.

If you are seeing the outgoing packet dump (but nothing coming in), then
that suggests that the remote agent isn't listening, or is discarding
the initial probe.
   I'd expect to see *something* sent back, even if it was an error
saying "wrong password" or "unknown user".

It might be worth trying with authNoPriv (or even noAuthNoPriv) first,
to see whether the agent responds.

You say that it's SNMPv3 only, so you can't try with SNMPv1 or SNMPv2c.
Is it also IPv6 only, or could you try querying it using an IPv4
address?

If you can find a less-secure version that works, then you try
increasing the settings (one at a time), until you find the point at
which things start
failing.   That might help identify what's actually wrong.
