Re: cpan tries to "upgrade" installed SNMP perl mod to lower version

I was?  What got upgraded?  I said I installed NetSNMP, and got the
v5.0401SNMP mod installed.

That's an install, not an upgrade. And, best I can tell, I'm at the version
I'm supposed to be. v5.0401

How is version 5.04 an "improvement" over the INSTALLED version 5.0401?

        Never run auto-updaters against private builds.


I didn't use cpanp to install ANYTHING associated with SNMP.

The Net-SNMP source build did all the building/installing directly.  The
source build has an option "--with-perl-modules"; I used it.  And, like I
said, it installs the apparently CORRECT version.  If I don't use that
option, and do the cpanp recommended installation, it'll installl the wrong
version.

cpanp is detecting the installed build, AND suggesting that I DOWNGRADE it
to a lower version, and calls it an upgrade.

I'd be happy to turn off the auto-detection of/by cpanp of SNMP.  Since this
makes "perfect sense" to you, got some advice as to how? :-)
