Re: duplex discovery

Ok, so through the haze of text in which you basically call Les and I
idiots for our suggestions or seemingly even for wanting to be
involved with this and your assumption from somewhere that we are
demanding you deliver this on your own, I see some valid points.

1)  Four OSes, multiple versions -- too large a scope
2)  Timeframe - long (no one asked for this by any date that I saw)
3)  I do see where you volunteered

So you and I have volunteered and you are screaming that the scope is
too big.  Fair enough.  Suggest a more limited scope that would be a
good POC target or provide feedback on my suggestion.

I know Sun and Linux well, so I could certainly help with developing
POC code for those two, BSD I have not worked with in 5-6 years so I
am quite rusty on that OS.

How about we start with Solaris 9 SPARC since that is very stable at
this point and a lot of sites still use it and RHEL 4 or 5 on x86
since those are in such wide use and stable?

If we can agree on an operating system or two to work on then we can
pick a few commonly used network drivers to start with to develop a
framework to use for other cards / architectures.

For Solaris we could pick one that is supported by ndd and another
that is supported by kstat.
