The best way to learn SNMP is to try using it. Read the book to get a feel for the basics, then set yourself up with a test server, and try querying it. Whenever you have a question like "How can the agent report two errors at the same time", try sending a request that will trigger this, and see what happens. You may find it useful to send requests using the command line option '-d' (to display the raw SNMP packets as they are sent/received) or '-Ddump' (to display a formatted dump of these packets). The output of -d is more compact, so it's easier to see the conversation between client and agent. But it's easier to see what the packets actually contain with '-Ddump'. If you see behaviour that you can't understand, then feel free to ask on the list. But you'll probably come to a better understanding of how it all fits together if you try and solve such problems for yourself first. Have Fun!
