The SNMP agent needs to delve fairly deeply into the internals
of the operating system, in order to locate the requested information.
Different O/S's will require different approaches to retrieve this
data - and it's certainly possible that an earlier O/S release may not
support a particular API introduced later.


It's difficult to comment properly in the abstract.
It's much easier if you give details of exactly which O/S versions
and MIB objects you are working with.
