It depends on your network configuration.

We've got three separate networks within our department (and hence
three separate IP ranges), but with two DHCP servers to cover them.
So one of those servers has two distinct ranges to work with.
  And we were toying with a significantly more complex setup.

Never underestimate the ingenuity (or sheer wierdness!) of the
network community!
